Pilates is a gentle exercise that will improve flexibility while developing muscle tone and strength. It promotes feelings of renewed energy and well-being and stimulates concentration.

The class is being run by Kerry Richards, a fully qualified and experienced instructor, and is open to all abilities – even if you’ve never done Pilates before, come and have a go.

Oare Village Hall Open Day - Saturday 16th March

open day

The newly refurbished Oare Village Hall is holding a community open day on Saturday 16th March.

The Hall will be open between 10am and 2pm and you are invited to come for tea, coffee and cake and see for yourself the wonderful new kitchen and catering facilities, alongside other recent enhancements. The inside and outside of the Hall have also been repainted and the roofing repaired.

All the work has been funded through a combination of grants, donations and the kind generosity of local residents.

Perfect for parties, meetings, exercise classes and other social functions, Oare Village Hall is also used by the local Mothers and Toddlers group and is our parish polling station at election time. We are keen to attract new users to this flexible and welcoming venue.

Come along and see what the Hall has to offer and learn more about our plans for further improvements and future events. Complimentary tea, coffee and cakes will be served and there will be a free raffle - with the winner receiving a free half-day hire of the Hall (worth £60).

More details of the Hall refurbishment project can be found at www.oare-wilts.co.uk. For Hall bookings and other enquiries, please contact Caroline Coryndon on 01672 563247 or via russet@coryndon.co.uk.

Oare Village Hall Refurbishment Project

A major programme of enhancements to bring the Hall into the 21st century

Now that Oare has lost its pub, the Village Hall is the only remaining centre where people can meet and take part in village and community activities. Each year the Oare Village Hall Committee organises as many different events as possible, whether held in the Hall or elsewhere – a plant and produce sale, the Easter trail, our summer show, food nights from around the world and carols at Christmas.

The Hall is also used by a range of organisations – Farming Club, Oare Mothers and Toddlers, as a venue for yoga and dance classes, and as a meeting place for the Parish Council, among others. It is also our local Polling Station.

Oare Village Hall is showing its age – originally built in the 1970s, it was extended in the mid-1990s, but has had virtually no major work done to it since then. Although we have maintained the fabric of the building, it is in urgent need of an upgrade.

The Hall eats money – huge electricity bills, high insurance premiums, the need to pay for waste collections, and health and safety requirements. If we are to survive, we need to reduce some of these outgoings, as well as making the space much more user-friendly and attractive to users.

Huish with Oare Parish December and January church services

St Nicholas, Huish

As in previous years, Oare School will attend a special St Nicholas Day service on Thursday 6th December at 10am. St Nicholas is known as the original Santa Claus due to his legendary habit of secret gift-giving which gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus.

There will be a Midnight Christmas Communion service at 11.30 pm on 24th December and on Sunday 13th January, there will be a sung Evensong at 4pm to celebrate the Baptism of Christ.

Holy Trinity, Oare

On Christmas Eve at 3pm, there will be the popular Crib Service and at 11 am on Christmas Day a Communion service will be held.

A Team Communion Service with carols will be held at Oare at 11am on 30th December.

On the first Sunday in January, we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany at Oare at 11am followed by coffee/tea and biscuits.

All will be welcome at any of the above services in either Church.
